Our process

From first contact to final delivery, our custom design and build process is tailored to your needs

  • Sketching furniture concepts for quoting

    01 | Quote

We begin each custom furniture project by learning the client’s style and sources of inspiration, then collaborating closely on design ideas, material selection, and delivery or installation needs to develop a detailed, tailored quote.

  • Walnut dining table CAD design rendering

    02 | Design

After receiving a 60% deposit on the project estimate, we jump into the design phase—drafting exacting shop drawings and renderings based on the unique aesthetic and needs of each client.

  • Stack of walnut boards for custom dining table project

    03 | Procurement

Each board or slab of wood is unique and we love that! We handpick hardwoods with the right character, color, and grain patterns to enhance the beauty of each piece.

Environmental sustainability is a priority. We work with wood and metal suppliers that align with our philosophy of doing right by the planet.

  • Dust & Spark craftsman using a chisel to clean up a wood joint

    04 | Production

Our favorite part: the process of turning raw materials into functional art.

We do sweat the small stuff by using strong, elegant joinery and fabrication methods with close attention to every detail. Sharing progress updates along the way, you can rest assured that you are getting an heirloom-quality piece.

  • Dust & Spark craftsmen installing a custom conference table

    05 | Delivery & Installation

As the final step, our team coordinates white glove delivery or professional installation, concluding with a final cleaning and walkthrough to ensure you are thrilled with the results.

Guarantee

We ensure that we use the best techniques and finishes when crafting your custom piece and guarantee it from defects in craftsmanship for one year after pickup, delivery, or installation.

Wood moves. We handpick our wood materials for the best quality and character, but wood is a natural, porous material that breathes and moves with the seasons and climate. We craft our pieces to let the wood move so as to not split or crack but we can’t ensure your piece won’t have these issues and you are responsible for making sure it’s in a temperature & humidity controlled environment. To help keep your piece in pristine condition, we recommend cleaning and caring for it as specified by the wood finish used on it. Feel free to contact us for further care instructions and tips.

Life happens. If you experience issues due to spills, standing water, improper climate control or other damage not due to a defect, we are happy to help repair or refinish the piece at a low cost.
