Flagstaff House
designing for legacy: Custom walnut tables for the Iconic flagstaff house
At Dust & Spark, every project is an opportunity to combine craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and a deep respect for materials. Our latest build for Flagstaff House Restaurant in Boulder has been one of our most rewarding to date: 67 custom tables crafted from rich black walnut, each designed with versatility and elegance in mind. We were able to collaborate with Kathy from Krughoff design and come up with a solution to create tables that fit their unique needs. Like many restaurants, Flagstaff’s needs change on a daily basis, depending on if it’s date night, a wedding, or a private event.
Interlocking Design for Flexibility
Restaurants thrive on adaptability, and these tables were built to meet that need. Each piece has the capability to interlock seamlessly, allowing the Flagstaff House team to reconfigure layouts depending on their service. From intimate two-tops to larger communal settings, these tables transform with ease while retaining their refined look.
Black Walnut Beauty
We selected sustainably sourced black walnut for its warmth, durability, and timeless character. The grain patterns in each slab ensure that no two tables are alike—every piece tells its own story, while still belonging to the whole.
The Private Dining Room Table
As a centerpiece, we created a stunning live edge private dining room table designed with custom extenders that expand its seating capacity when needed. To make it uniquely theirs, we engraved the base with the Flagstaff House logo, transforming it into a bespoke piece of functional art that embraces the restaurant’s timeless heritage.
A Partnership of Craft and Vision
Projects like this remind us why we do what we do. Working with the Flagstaff House team gave us the chance to design pieces that not only serve a functional purpose but also contribute to the ambiance and storytelling of their space.
We can’t wait for guests to gather around these tables, share meals, and create memories for years to come.
